OUR STORY

Since I started my hairdressing career in 2008 my dream was to run my own salon. Once I had qualified in 2010, I spent 5 years cutting both ladies and gentleman’s hair, acquiring a lot of experience and confidence. I realised I enjoyed cutting male hair and started working in my local barber shop (my NVQ 2&3 in hairdressing and my experience gave me the opportunity to do so). My boss taught me the specialist skills in barbering that I needed in order to cut hair to a high standard and provide quality service for customers. After a short period I found I had a real passion for barbering that I didn't share for ladies hairdressing, therefore I did everything I could in the way of helping my boss run his business. Very soon it became apparent to me that my dream was to, one day, open my own barber shop.

The first barber shop I worked in was situated in the village that I grew up in, Winscombe. It was very much a village barber shop with a country vibe. After working there for a few months I found I had built up my own customer base and gained some good experience however the average age range of my customers were mainly middle aged and elderly men. Barbering over the last 10 years has become a booming industry, with men spending more time and money on their hair and beards. The fashions change quickly and the standard of cutting in the barbering industry is at an all time high. I felt my skills were not going to progress as much as i wanted them to if i stayed there, so i felt i should move to a different barber shop with a younger clientele.

I applied for a job at a barber shop in Weston Super Mare and got it. I worked there for a year and a half where I developed my skills even more so with the help of my boss who was extremely passionate about barbering and was a brilliant teacher, mentor and friend. I Finally felt I was at the right point in my life to open my own barber shop and with the help of my partner Harry Blythe I wanted to build my own successful business and brand.

Tidboald Blythe is now an established barber shop in the village of Wedmore. We have built up a fantastic reputation in the local area and it is onwards and upwards from here!

“Excellent service. Very comfortable shop to wait in and to have a trim in. Steff will cater to your style and is very happy to make suggestions if you aren’t sure or would like something new. Would certainly recommend to a friend and others alike.”
